Shock tower bracing is extremely critical for both road and drag racing. The chassis stiffness provided by this type of bracing keeps the chassis at the rear wheels stiff so the tires can stay firmly planted, either through a corner or during a launch. Without bracing, during a cornering load or a launch the chassis will deform and will resemble a rhombus. Diagonal bracing, the Z Brace’s second link, eliminates rhombusing by ensuring the dimensional stability of the rectangular body structure.
Strange Development’s Z Brace™ is a great complement to the stock Mustang suspension or an aftermarket coil over suspension. The Z Brace™ kit contains all of the hardware needed to bolt the brace into your Mustang. The top bracket bolts to the top cross member through two factory holes. The shock tower brackets are also designed to be completely bolt-on, but they can be welded into place if desired.

Strange Development is
announcing the release of their new and innovative rear shock tower brace, the Z
Brace™, which they designed and engineered for the 2005 – 2007 Ford Mustang
coupe. The Z Brace™ improves upon traditional shock tower braces, which use
only one link between the shock towers, by including a second link which
triangulates the back body structure above the rear axle. This triangulation
provided by the second link makes the Z Brace™ much more effective than
traditional shock tower bracing.
The Z Brace™ links are made
from an aircraft aluminum alloy that makes the Mustang coupe’s chassis stiff
without adding unneeded weight. High strength powder coated steel brackets are
used to mount the lightweight links to the chassis. Three unique brackets are
utilized; two at the shock towers and the third located at the top trunk cross
member, which provides a mounting location for the triangulating link.
